Schauspielerin Kirstie Alley stirbt im Alter von 71 Jahren
Die zweifache Emmy-Preisträgerin Kirstie Alley ist tot. Sie starb am Montag im Alter von 71 Jahren an Krebs, wie ihre Familie mitteilte. Die Erkrankung sei erst kürzlich festgestellt worden. "Die Begeisterung und die Leidenschaft unserer Mutter für das Leben, ihre Kinder, Enkelkinder und ihre vielen Tiere, ganz zu schweigen von ihrer ewigen Schaffensfreude, waren unvergleichlich und haben uns inspiriert, das Leben in vollen Zügen zu leben, so wie sie es tat", erklärten Alleys Kindern im Onlinedienst Twitter.
Alley wurde durch ihre Rolle als Rebecca Howe in der Sitcom "Cheers" über eine Bar in Boston bekannt. Dafür erhielt sie 1991 einen Emmy als beste Hauptdarstellerin in einer Comedy-Serie. Einen weiteren Emmy bekam sie für ihre Rolle als alleinerziehende Mutter eines autistischen Sohnes in dem Film "Zu viel Liebe – Davids Mutter".
Zudem spielte Alley in der Komödie "Kuck' mal, wer da spricht" aus dem Jahr 1989 und den beiden Fortsetzungen zusammen mit John Travolta. Travolta würdigte Alley am Montagabend und teilte ein Bild von der Schauspielerin im Onlinedienst Instagram. Die Beziehung zu Alley "war eine der außergewöhnlichsten Beziehungen, die ich je hatte", schrieb Travolta. "Ich liebe Dich, Kirstie. Ich weiß, wir werden uns wiedersehen."
