Rushdie schreibt nach fast tödlicher Messerattacke wieder
Der britische Autor Salman Rushdie ist nach eigenen Angaben zurück am Schreibtisch, nachdem er im vergangenen Jahr eine Messerattacke nur knapp überlebt hat. Der 75-Jährige nahm am Dienstag auf Schloss Windsor nahe London eine Ehrenmedaille entgegen. Es habe "eine Weile gedauert", sagt Rushdie, aber er schreibe wieder. Der Schriftsteller, der eine Brille mit einem schwarzen Glas über dem rechten Auge trug, posierte mit der Medaille für Fotos.
Nach einer Messerattacke in den USA hatte Rushdie die Sicht auf dem rechten Auge verloren. Er leide seitdem unter posttraumatischem Stress und habe Schwierigkeiten zu schreiben, sagte der Autor dem "New Yorker" im Februar. Sein letztes Buch "Victory City" erschien Anfang des Jahres.
Rushdie war immer wieder Opfer von Drohungen und Mordversuchen, seit er 1988 den Roman "Die Satanischen Verse" veröffentlichte. Das iranische Regime hatte das Buch als blasphemisch bezeichnet. Heute lebt Rushdie in New York.
