Kulturstaatsministerin Roth würdigt Rocklegende Tina Turner
Kulturstaatsministerin Claudia Roth (Grüne) hat die Karriere der verstorbenen Rocklegende Tina Turner als "große Emanzipationsgeschichte" gewürdigt. "Tina Turners bewegtes, intensives Leben hatte viele Höhepunkte und Tiefpunkte – und all das hören wir in ihrer Musik", erklärte Roth am Donnerstag. Zu Beginn ihrer Karriere sei die Sängerin in der hochgradig toxischen, von Gewalt geprägten Beziehung zu ihrem ersten Ehemann Ike Turner gefangen gewesen.
Doch Tina Turner habe sich daraus befreit und sei dann konsequent ihren eigenen Weg gegangen, ergänzte Roth. "Ihre so beeindruckende Karriere ist eine große Emanzipationsgeschichte, die als Vorbild bleiben wird." Und nicht nur ihr Leben, auch ihre Songs erzählten immer wieder von "Selbstermächtigung, Befreiung und Emanzipation".
Viele ihrer Songs seien unsterblich. Dazu trage auch ihre einmalige Stimme bei. "Die Queen hat uns verlassen, aber sie wird in unseren Rock'n'Roll-Herzen bleiben", erklärte die Grünen-Politikerin weiter.
Die Sängerin von Welthits wie "Private Dancer", "Simply the Best" und "What's Love Got To Do With It" war am Mittwoch im Alter von 83 Jahren in der Schweiz gestorben, wo sie seit Jahren in einem Anwesen in Küsnacht am Zürichsee gelebt hatte. Turner war 1995 mit ihrem späteren zweiten Ehemann, dem deutschen Musikmanager Erwin Bach, in die Schweiz gezogen.
