Hollywood-Legende Jane Fonda will mit 85 Jahren im Einsatz gegen den Klimawandel weiter Verantwortungsträgern "in den Hintern treten". Im Gespräch mit der Nachrichtenagentur AFP sagte die für ihr umweltpolitisches Engagement bekannte Oscar-Gewinnerin, sie sei nach einem erfolgreichen Kampf gegen eine Krebserkrankung im vergangenen Jahr fit. "Ich habe viel Energie. Ich bin bereit, weiter (Leuten) in den Hintern zu treten."
Die Erderwärmung sei "die größte Krise, mit der es die Menschheit jemals zu tun hatte", sagte die Schauspielerin am Rande eines Hollywood-Treffens zum Klimawandel. "Wir alle müssen alles tun, was wir können, bevor es zu spät ist." Sie selbst wäre "deprimiert", wenn sie ihren Aktivismus gegen den Klimawandel nicht fortsetzten könnte, sagte Fonda. "Aber ich bin nicht deprimiert, weil ich alles tue, was ich kann."
Filmschaffende, Wissenschaftler und Aktivisten diskutieren seit Mittwoch in Hollywood über Möglichkeiten, die Erderwärmung mehr im Kino zu thematisieren. "Ich bin Teil der Hollywood-Gemeinschaft", sagte Fonda. "Ich glaube nicht, dass die Hollywood-Gemeinschaft genug getan hat, um dieser Krise entgegenzutreten. Deswegen bin ich hier, um dazu zu ermutigen."
