Taylor Swift und Shakira räumen bei MTV Video Music Awards ab
US-Megastar Taylor Swift und die kolumbianische Pop-Sängerin Shakira haben bei den MTV Video Music Awards die begehrtesten Preise abgeräumt. Swift gewann allein vier Preise, darunter mit ihrem Hit "Anti-Hero" die wichtigste Trophäe des Abends für das Video des Jahres. Pop-Star Shakira nahm den prestigeträchtigen Video Vanguard Award für ihr Lebenswerk entgegen. Rapper Ice Spice, mit dem Swift zusammengearbeitet hatte, gewann den Preis als bester neuer Künstler.
Swift ist eine der erfolgreichsten Sängerinnen der vergangenen Jahrzehnte und hat mehr Nummer-eins-Alben als jede andere Künstlerin in der Geschichte der US-Charts herausgebracht. Ihre bereits ausverkaufte "Eras"-Tournee wird sie im Sommer 2024 auch nach Deutschland führen.
"Das ist unglaublich", sagte Swift, die zudem auch die Preise für den besten Song, die beste Popmusik und die beste Regie erhielt. Es bedeute ihr "sehr viel", dass die Auszeichnung auf der Abstimmung von Fans basiere, sagte Swift sichtlich gerührt bei der Entgegennahme des Preises im Prudential Centre in Newark im US-Bundesstaat New Jersey.
Der eigentliche Star der Show war aber Shakira. In einem schillernden Glitzer-Outfit legte die 46-jährige Kolumbianerin einen ihrer berühmten Hüftschwung-Auftritte hin und ließ sich vom Publikum buchstäblich auf Händen tragen. Bei ihren Fans bedankte sich die Pop-Sängerin mit den Worten: "Danke, dass ihr seit meinem 18. Lebensjahr einen so großen Anteil an meiner Karriere habt."
