Künstler Fernando Botero gestorben
Der kolumbianische Bildhauer und Maler Fernando Botero ist tot. Der für seine rundlichen Figuren bekannte Botero starb im Alter von 91 Jahren, wie Kolumbiens Präsident Gustavo Petro am Freitag mitteilte. Petro würdigte den Künstler im Onlinedienst X als "Maler unserer Traditionen und Fehler, Maler unserer Tugenden, unserer Gewalt und unseres Friedens".
Der 1932 in Medellín im Zentrum Kolumbiens geborene Botero gilt als einer der berühmtesten Künstler des 20. Jahrhunderts. Seine plumpen und leicht surrealen Figuren erlangten enorme Popularität und werden in Museen und auf öffentlichen Plätzen rund um die Welt gezeigt, darunter Paris, Berlin, Madrid und Venedig.
