Der in Russland wegen Spionagevorwürfen inhaftierte US-Journalist Evan Gershkovich muss weiter in Untersuchungshaft bleiben. Ein Gericht habe einen Widerspruch von Gershkovich gegen die Verlängerung seiner U-Haft bis Ende März zurückgewiesen, teilte der Pressedienst der Moskauer Gerichte am Dienstag im Onlinedienst Telegram mit. Der Journalist bleibe bis zum 30. März in Haft.
Der "Wall Street Journal"-Reporter war Ende März vergangenen Jahres während einer Recherchereise im Ural vom Geheimdienst FSB festgenommen worden. Gershkovich wird Spionage vorgeworfen, ihm drohen bis zu 20 Jahre Haft. Der Reporter, seine Familie, sein Arbeitgeber und die US-Behörden weisen die Anschuldigungen zurück.
Die russische Justiz hat keine Belege für ihre Anschuldigungen veröffentlicht. Das juristische Verfahren gegen Gershkovich wurde als geheim eingestuft.
