Irische Grundschule ist "superstolz" auf Oscar für "Oppenheimer"-Star Murphy
Der Oscar für "Oppenheimer"-Star Cillian Murphy sorgt in seiner Heimat Irland für große Begeisterung: Auch seine ehemalige Grundschule in der Stadt Cork freut sich über den Hollywood-Glamour. "Wir sind superstolz und die Kinder auch", sagte die Mutter Elaine Murphy, die mit dem Schauspieler nicht verwandt ist, als sie ihre Kinder von der Schule abholte.
Der 47-jährige Murphy war von 1982 und 1988 Schüler der katholischen St. Anthony's-Grundschule für Jungen im gepflegten Stadtteil Ballinlough. Für seine Darstellung des US-Physikers Robert Oppenheimer in der Filmbiografie "Oppenheimer" wurde er bei der Oscar-Verleihung am Sonntag als bester Hauptdarsteller ausgezeichnet.
Am Montagmorgen habe an der Schule "große Aufregung" geherrscht, berichtete Schuldirektor Sean Lyons. "Wir dachten: Kann das wahr sein kann, dass dieser Mann aus Ballinlough in Cork tatsächlich den Oscar gewonnen hat, eine weltweite Auszeichnung?" Damit sei Murphy zu einem Vorbild für Schulkinder aus Ballinlough und "ganz Irland" geworden, "auf der globalen Bühne" etwas erreichen zu können.
Wie das im Filmgeschäft gehen könnte, hat Murphy bereits in einem Fragebogen aus dem Jahr 2015 ausgeführt, der in seiner früheren Schule ausgestellt ist. "Tritt einer Theatergruppe bei, fang an, mit Deinen Freunden Filme mit Deinem Handy zu drehen und veröffentliche sie auf Youtube", riet der Schauspieler damals Kindern mit Schauspiel-Ambitionen.
