Technische Störung in Großbritannien kostet Fluggesellschaften Millionen
Die schwerste technische Störung im Flugverkehr in Großbritannien seit fast zehn Jahren kostet die Fluggesellschaften voraussichtlich mehr als 100 Millionen Euro. "Es ist sehr unfair, weil die Flugverkehrskontrolle, die für diesen Ausfall verantwortlich war, keinen einzigen Penny zahlt", sagte der Direktor der Internationalen Luftverkehrsvereinigung (Iata), Willie Walsh, am Mittwoch der BBC. Die Fluggesellschaften mussten gestrandeten Passagieren Ersatzflüge und Übernachtungen zahlen.
Der Iata-Chef äußerte Zweifel an der Erklärung der britischen Behörden für die Störung. "Wenn das stimmt, dann zeigt das eine beträchtliche Schwachstelle, die schon seit einiger Zeit bestehen muss."
Die Luftfahrtbehörde NATS erklärte am Mittwoch, die Störung sei durch "ungewöhnliche" eingehende Flugdaten ausgelöst worden. Daraufhin mussten am Montag Flugpläne über Stunden per Hand eingegeben werden. 1500 Flüge - etwa ein Viertel aller Flüge an dem Tag - wurden gestrichen. Am Dienstag waren es laut dem Fachdienst Cirium noch 345 Flüge, die ausfielen. Auch am Mittwoch kam es noch vereinzelt zu Ausfällen und Verspätungen.
Die britische Regierung hat eine Untersuchung des Vorfalls angekündigt. Einen Hackerangriff schloss sie aus.
