Inflation in der Eurozone im August unverändert bei 5,3 Prozent
Die Inflation in der Eurozone ist im August unverändert geblieben: Die Teuerung betrug im Vergleich zum Vorjahresmonat 5,3 Prozent, wie die Statistikbehörde Eurostat am Donnerstag in einer ersten Schätzung mitteilte. Die Rate blieb trotz eines Rückgangs der Energiepreise um 3,3 Prozent und einer langsameren Steigerung bei den Nahrungsmittelpreisen, die um 9,8 Prozent anzogen, stabil. Der Rückgang bei den Energiepreisen war aber schwächer als in den Vormonaten.
Experten waren im Vorfeld von einer etwas niedrigeren Inflation von 5,1 Prozent ausgegangen. Seit Mai war die Teuerung kontinuierlich zurückgegangen. Gleichwohl ist sie noch immer weit vom Ziel der Europäischen Zentralbank (EZB) entfernt, die bei zwei Prozent Inflation eine Preisstabilität gewährleistet und die Gefahr einer Deflation weit genug entfernt sieht.
Zwischen den einzelnen Ländern gibt es größere Unterschiede. Die niedrigste Inflation der Euro-Länder hatten zuletzt Belgien und Spanien mit 2,4 Prozent, auch in den Niederlanden und in Portugal liegt sie mit 3,0 Prozent beziehungsweise 3,7 Prozent über dem Schnitt der Euro-Staaten.
In Deutschland liegt die Teuerung hingegen darüber: Das Statistische Bundesamt hatte am Mittwoch für den Harmonisierten Verbraucherpreisindex, der die Inflation auf EU-Ebene vergleichbar macht, einen Wert von 6,4 Prozent angegeben. Auch die Slowakei und Kroatien haben mit 9,6 Prozent beziehungsweise 8,5 Prozent hohe Raten.
