Microsoft löst Kommunikationsdienst Teams aus Büropaketen heraus
Der US-Softwarekonzern Microsoft reagiert auf eine Untersuchung der EU-Wettbewerbshüter und löst den Kommunikationsdienst Teams aus seinen Büropaketen Office 365 und Microsoft 365 heraus. Die beiden Büropakete werden ab Oktober günstiger für Kunden, die auf Teams verzichten, erklärte Microsoft am Donnerstag.
Über Teams können Büro-Mitarbeiter Videobesprechungen abhalten sowie Textbotschaften, Notizen und andere Dokumente austauschen. Im Juli 2020 hatte der US-Konkurrent Slack Technologies in Brüssel Beschwerde eingereicht. Slack betreibt einen ähnlichen Kommunikationsdienst wie Teams. Weitere Alternativen zu dem Microsoft-Programm sind etwa Zoom oder Google Meet.
Die EU-Kommission hatte das Verfahren gegen Microsoft Ende Juli eröffnet. Sie vermutet, dass Microsoft mit der Einbindung von Teams seine marktbeherrschende Stellung im Software-Bereich missbraucht. Dem US-Konzern droht damit eine Geldbuße von bis zu zehn Prozent des Jahresumsatzes. Die EU hat bereits mehrfach hohe Geldstrafen gegen den Konzern verhängt. Microsoft kündigte am Donnerstag an, weiter mit der EU-Kommission zusammenzuarbeiten.
