Studie: Bargeld-Auszahlung an der Kasse immer beliebter
Immer mehr Menschen in Deutschland lassen sich einer Studie zufolge an der Supermarktkasse oder im Drogeriemarkt Bargeld auszahlen. Die Summe beim sogenannten Cashback stieg 2023 um rund 20 Prozent auf 12,31 Milliarden Euro an, wie das Forschungsinstitut EHI in Köln am Mittwoch mitteilte. Beliebteste Zahlungsart im Einzelhandel bleibt derweil die Kartenzahlung, der Anteil des Bargelds ist hingegen rückläufig.
Lebensmittelhändler, Drogerien und Baumärkte, die Cashback anbieten, zahlten laut EHI-Institut 13,3 Prozent ihres eingenommenen Bargelds wieder an ihre Kundinnen und Kunden aus. Wenn die Bargeldquote dieser Unternehmen weiter rückläufig sein sollte, "wird es in einigen Fällen schwierig werden, diesen Service vollumfänglich aufrecht zu erhalten", erklärten die Forschenden. Dann nämlich müssten sie zusätzliches Bargeld beschaffen, was zu finanziellen Belastungen der Einzelhändler führe. Bereits 2023 zahlte der Handel rund 17,23 Millionen Euro Gebühren für den Service.
Die Bargeldmenge im deutschen Einzelhandel sank im vergangenen Jahr um zwei Prozent auf 172 Milliarden Euro. Der Anteil des physischen Geldes lag damit bei 35,5 Prozent. Der Umsatz bei der Bezahlung mit Plastik legte derweil auf 61,8 Prozent beziehungsweise 300 Milliarden Euro zu. Ein Anteil von 2,1 Prozent entfiel auf den Rechnungs- und Finanzkauf, der Rest auf sonstige Zahlungsmittel wie Gutscheine.
Beliebteste Karte war der Studie zufolge die Girocard mit einem Anteil von 42,4 Prozent am Gesamtumsatz. Kreditkarten und Debitkarten lagen mit 8,6 Prozent und 4,1 Prozent deutlich dahinter.
