Toyota 2021 erneut weltgrößter Autobauer vor Volkswagen
Toyota hat im vergangenen Jahr seinen Titel als weltgrößter Autobauer vor Volkswagen verteidigt. Trotz Lieferengpässen und Chipmangels verkaufte der japanische Konzern 2021 fast 10,5 Millionen Fahrzeuge, wie Toyota am Freitag mitteilte. Das waren einschließlich der verkauften Fahrzeuge bei den Tochtergesellschaften Daihatsu und Hino zehn Prozent mehr als im Vorjahr.
Volkswagen hatte zuletzt für seine Konzernmarken für 2021 die Auslieferung von knapp 8,9 Millionen Fahrzeugen vermeldet. Das waren 4,5 Prozent weniger als im Vorjahr.
Bereits 2020 hatte Toyota mit weltweit 9,5 Millionen verkauften Fahrzeugen vor Volkswagen mit 9,3 Millionen Autos gelegen. Davor hatte VW die Spitzenposition inne, nachdem der Wolfsburger Autobauer Toyota 2016 vom ersten Platz verdrängt hatte.
