Geywitz kündigt Förderprogramm für Studentenwohnungen an
Bundesbauministerin Klara Geywitz (SPD) will mit einem großangelegten Förderprogramm mehr Wohnraum für Studierende und Auszubildende schaffen. "Es wird sich um dreistellige Millionenbeträge handeln, damit in den Bundesländern was ankommt", sagte Geywitz dem Journal des Deutschen Studentenwerks (DSW). Das Programm solle Anfang kommenden Jahres an den Start gehen, das Geld dafür stelle der Bund bereit.
Das bereits im Koalitionsvertrag der Bundesregierung angekündigte Bund-Länder-Programm "Junges Wohnen" soll nicht nur für Studierende und Auszubildende zusätzlichen bezahlbaren Wohnraum schaffen, sondern auch für Polizeianwärter. "Mein Wunsch ist, dass das Programm ausreichend groß wird", sagte Geywitz. "Wir brauchen ihn dringend, den Wohnraum für junge Menschen."
Geywitz sterbt eine Verwaltungsvereinbarung mit den Ländern an. "Die Länder bekommen einen Kostenzuschuss und können selbst ihre Fördersummen definieren."
Sie wolle nach der Sommerpause mit den Studierendenwerken und Hochschulexperten sprechen, um zu klären, wie sich die Digitalisierung im Studium niederschlage. Sie selbst sei "als Studentin die meiste Zeit unterwegs und nur abends zu Hause" gewesen. "Wenn das Studium heute ein anderes ist, müssen die Wohnheime auch anders sein."
