Zahl der Bafög-Bezieher unter Studierenden erstmals seit 2012 gestiegen
Die Zahl der Bafög-Bezieher unter deutschen Studierenden ist im vergangenen Jahr erstmals seit rund zehn Jahren wieder gestiegen. Wie das Statistische Bundesamt am Freitag in Wiesbaden berichtete, erhöhte sie sich im Vergleich zum Vorjahr 2020 ganz leicht um 0,4 Prozent oder 2000 auf 468.000. Davor war die Zahl der Studierenden, die Bafög bekamen, seit 2012 jährlich kontinuierlich gefallen.
Bafög wird nicht nur an Studierende ausgezahlt, sondern auch an Schülerinnen und Schüler oder Auszubildende, wenn diese die Bedingungen erfüllen. Auf diese Gesamtheit gerechnet sank die Zahl der Bafög-Bezieherinnen und -bezieher nach Angaben des Statistischen Bundesamts im vergangenen Jahr um drei Prozent oder etwa 16.000 auf rund 623.000. Das sogenannte Bafög ist die staatliche finanzielle Unterstützung für Menschen in Ausbildung.
Der durchschnittliche monatliche Förderbetrag lag demnach bei 562 Euro, sechs Euro mehr als im Vorjahr. Die Höhe ist individuell verschieden. Sie ist unter anderem abhängig davon, ob Bezieherinnen und Bezieher alleine oder noch bei ihren Eltern wohnen. Die Gesamtausgaben für Bafög-Leistungen beliefen sich 2021 auf etwa 2,9 Milliarden Euro. Das war ein Prozent mehr als im Jahr 2020.
