Rekordhoch beim Teilzeitstudium
Die Zahl der Teilzeitstudierenden in Deutschland ist auf einen neuen Höchstwert gestiegen. Rund 231.000 Menschen studierten zum Wintersemester 2020/21 in Teilzeit, das waren etwa 8000 mehr im Vergleich zum Vorjahr, wie das Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung (CHE) unter Berufung auf Daten des Statistischen Bundesamtes am Donnerstag in Gütersloh mitteilte. Der Anteil an allen Studierenden erreichte einen Rekordwert von 7,8 Prozent.
Die Zahl der "de facto"-Teilzeitstudierenden, die zwar in einen Vollzeit-Studiengang eingeschrieben sind, aber weniger intensiv und länger als vorgesehen studieren, dürfte nach Einschätzung des CHE noch deutlich höher liegen.
Die höchsten Anteile an Teilzeitstudierenden im Ländervergleich haben demnach Hamburg, Nordrhein-Westfalen und Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. In Hamburg absolviert rund ein Fünftel der Studierenden ein Studium nicht in Vollzeit. In Nordrhein-Westfalen sind es 13,3 Prozent und in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern 12,7 Prozent.
Unterschiede gibt es auch je nach Trägerschaft der Hochschulen. Während an privaten Hochschulen mehr als ein Drittel aller Studierenden in Teilzeit studiert, sind es an staatlichen Einrichtungen nur vier Prozent. An privaten Hochschulen kann die Teilzeit-Option laut CHE oft ausdrücklich als Studienmodell gewählt werden, an staatlichen Hochschulen ist sie dagegen weiterhin die große Ausnahme. Grund dafür sei neben der fehlenden Bafög-Berechtigung, dass bei staatlichen Hochschulen mit unterschiedlich hohem bürokratischen Aufwand die Teilzeitberechtigung nachgewiesen werden müsse.
