Weltweit leben 675 Millionen Menschen ohne Strom
Weltweit leben nach zuletzt verfügbaren Zahlen 675 Millionen Menschen ohne Strom. Rund 80 Prozent davon leben in Afrika südlich der Sahara, wie aus einem am Dienstag veröffentlichten Lagebericht der Weltbank, der Weltgesundheitsorganisation (WHO) und weiteren Organisationen hervorgeht. Die Zahlen beziehen sich auf das Jahr 2021. In Afrika südlich der Sahara habe sich die Lage seit 2010 damit praktisch kaum verändert.
Ohne weitere Maßnahmen würden nach jetzigem Stand auch 2030 noch 660 Millionen Menschen ohne einen sicheren und dauerhaften Stromanschluss auskommen müssen, warnten die Organisationen. Das ist das von der UNO im Jahr 2015 ausgegebene Jahr, bis zu dem für alle Menschen ein Zugang zu bezahlbarem Strom erreicht werden soll.
Zwar verlaufe die Energiewende hin zu mehr Erneuerbaren schneller als erwartet. Allerdings bleibe noch viel zu tun, um die UN-Ziele zu erreichen, hieß es in dem Bericht weiter.
