Neuer Tiefstand: Zahl der Apotheken bundesweit auf 17.571 geschrumpft
Die Zahl der Apotheken in Deutschland ist im vergangenen Jahr auf einen neuen Tiefstand gesunken. Wie die Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Apothekerverbände (Abda) am Donnerstag mitteilte, gab es zum Ende des vergangenen Jahres bundesweit 17.571 Apotheken - fast 500 weniger als ein Jahr zuvor und der "größte jährliche Verlust an Apotheken in der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik". Demnach standen 559 Schließungen nur 62 Neueröffnungen gegenüber.
Mit 21 Apotheken pro 100.000 Einwohnerinnen und Einwohnern liegt die Deutschland bei der Apothekendichte weit unter dem europäischen Durchschnitt mit 32 Apotheken. Apotheken sicherten die wohnortnahe Arzneimittelversorgung der gesamten Bevölkerung und seien ein "unverzichtbarer Teil jeder lokalen Infrastruktur", erklärte der Verband. Viele Inhaberinnen und Inhaber müssten dennoch aufgeben, weil ihnen die wirtschaftliche Basis wegbreche.
Abda-Präsidentin Gabriele Regina Overwiening forderte die Politik zum Handeln auf. Sie müsse ein Apotheken-Rettungsgesetz vorzulegen, das unter anderem eine sofortige Anpassung des Honorars der Apotheken beinhalte. Dieses müsse zudem künftig "automatisch an wirtschaftliche Entwicklungen angepasst werden".
