Abnehmspritzen-Hersteller Novo Nordisk übernimmt US-Pharmakonzern Catalent
Der für seine Abnehmspritzen bekannte dänischen Pharmariese Novo Nordisk will für 16,5 Milliarden Dollar (rund 15,3 Milliarden Euro) das US-Pharmaunternehmen Catalent übernehmen. Der Novo-Nordisk-Mutterkonzern Novo Holdings will für die Übernahme 63,50 Dollar pro Catalent-Aktie zahlen, ein Aufschlag von 16,5 Prozent im Vergleich zum Schlusskurs vom vergangenen Freitag, wie beide Unternehmen am Montag mitteilten.
Catalent betreibt nach eigenen Angaben weltweit mehr als 50 Werke, in denen fast 8000 verschiedene Medizinprodukte hergestellt und abgefüllt werden, und beschäftigt fast 18.000 Mitarbeiter. Mit der Übernahme des US-Unternehmens will Novo Nordisk unter anderem seine Produktionskapazitäten ausbauen. Die Übernahme, die noch von Aufsichtsbehörden und den Catalent-Aktionären abgesegnet werden muss, soll bis Jahresende über die Bühne gehen.
Novo Nordisk stellt unter anderem das Diabetes-Mittel Ozempic her, das als Abnehmspritze sehr populär ist. Außerdem hat der dänische Pharmariese Wegovy auf den Markt gebracht, das den selben Wirkstoff wie Ozempic in anderer Dosierung enthält und von den US-Behörden zur Behandlung von Fettleibigkeit zugelassen wurde.
Dank des guten Geschäfts mit diesen Medikamenten ist der Gewinn von Novo Nordisk im vergangenen Jahr um 51 Prozent gestiegen. Ebenfalls im vergangenen Jahr war Novo Nordisk zu Europas wertvollstem Unternehmen aufgestiegen. Allerdings hat der Konzern Probleme, die große Nachfrage nach seinen Mitteln zu bedienen - und investiert deswegen in den Ausbau von Produktionskapazitäten.
