Krankenkasse: Zahl der Patienten mit Diabetes Typ zwei erneut gestiegen
Die Zahl der an Diabetes mellitus Typ zwei erkrankten Patienten ist erneut gestiegen. Von 2021 auf 2022 gab es einen Zuwachs um 95.450 Menschen auf 7,29 Millionen Betroffene, wie die Krankenkasse Barmer am Dienstag in Berlin mitteilte. Binnen zehn Jahren stieg der Anteil der Betroffenen demnach von 8,04 auf 8,65 Prozent.
Gestiegene Zahlen gab es vor allem in den ostdeutschen Bundesländern. Mit einem Anteil von 13,4 Prozent ist Sachsen-Anhalt am stärksten betroffen. Der Wert liegt 55 Prozent über dem Bundesdurchschnitt von 8,65 Prozent. Am geringsten ist der Anteil mit 6,1 Prozent in Hamburg.
Gemessen an den Altersgruppen gab es vor allem bei Älteren einen Zuwachs. Zwischen 2013 und 2022 stieg der Anteil der Betroffenen bei den 70- bis 79-Jährigen von 24,5 auf 25,9 Prozent. Zugleich stieg der Anteil bei den 80- bis 89-Jährigen von 27,1 auf 29 Prozent. In der Gruppe der 40- bis 49-Jährigen stieg er von 3,4 auf 3,9 Prozent.
"Deutschland scheint die Zuckerkrankheit nicht in den Griff zu bekommen", erklärte der Barmer-Vorstandsvorsitzende Christoph Straub. Der nationalen Diabetesstrategie müsse mehr Bedeutung zukommen, forderte er.
