Italien erhält nach Meloni-Sieg weitere 21 Milliarden Euro von der EU
Die italienische Postfaschistin Giorgia Meloni kann kurz nach ihrem Sieg bei den Parlamentswahlen am Sonntag mit einer Milliardenspritze aus Brüssel rechnen: Die EU-Kommission stellte Italien am Dienstag weitere 21 Milliarden Euro aus dem europäischen Corona-Wiederaufbaufonds in Aussicht. Dies seien "einmal mehr gute Nachrichten für Italien", betonte Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen.
Die neuen Hilfen umfassen demnach zehn Milliarden Euro an Zuschüssen, die Rom nicht zurückzahlen muss. Daneben ist ein Darlehen in Höhe von elf Milliarden Euro vorgesehen. Die scheidende Regierung unter Ministerpräsident Mario Draghi hatte die Tranche Ende Juni beantragt.
Das Geld wird nach Angaben von der Leyens ausgezahlt, sobald die Mitgliedsländer zugestimmt haben. Dafür haben sie maximal vier Wochen Zeit. Dies gilt laut Diplomaten aber als Formsache: Die Zahlungen aus dem Wiederaufbaufonds sind an bestimmte Etappenziele geknüpft, die nach Kommissionsangaben erfüllt sind.
Mit mehr als 191 Milliarden Euro soll das von der Pandemie gebeutelte Italien mit Abstand die meisten Gelder aus dem EU-Fonds erhalten, der insgesamt mit 750 Milliarden Euro dotiert ist. Eine Vorfinanzierung von knapp 25 Milliarden Euro hatte die Brüsseler Kommission erst im August an Rom ausgezahlt.
