Deutschland will Engagement für Gesundheitsförderung von Frauen verstärken
Deutschland will sein Engagement für Frauen und Mädchen in der globalen Gesundheitsversorgung ausbauen. Bereits in diesem Jahr sollten 57 Millionen Euro für den Bevölkerungsfonds der Vereinten Nationen bereit gestellt werden, sagte Bundesentwicklungsministerin Svenja Schulze (SPD) den Zeitungen der Funke Mediengruppe. Sie äußerte sich mit Blick auf den am Sonntag beginnenden Weltgesundheitsgipfel in Berlin.
"Starke Mädchen und Frauen führen dazu, dass ganze Gesellschaften gesünder leben", betonte Schulze. "Sie sind ein Schlüssel für eine erfolgreiche globale Gesundheitspolitik." Mit Blick auf den UN-Bevölkerungsfonds sagte sie, "zu einer feministischen Entwicklungspolitik gehört auch die Förderung der sexuellen und reproduktiven Gesundheit" und der damit verbundenen Rechte.
"Dadurch ermöglichen wir Frauen und Mädchen ein gesundes Leben und eröffnen ihnen Chancen auf soziale und wirtschaftliche Teilhabe", sagte Schulze weiter. Von dem von Deutschland bereitgestellten Geld sollen dem Bericht zufolge 15 Millionen Euro in die Unterstützung von Frauen und Jugendlichen fließen, die von den Auswirkungen des russischen Angriffskriegs in der Ukraine betroffen sind. Auf dem Weltgesundheitsgipfel will am Nachmittag auch Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) sprechen.
