Batterien in der Europäischen Union sollen umweltfreundlicher werden
Der Einsatz von Batterien soll in der Europäische Union (EU) umweltfreundlicher werden. Darauf einigten sich am Freitagabend das Europaparlament und die Mitgliedstaaten. Batterien sollen demnach unter anderem künftig so nachhaltig wie möglich produziert, länger genutzt und besser recycelt werden.
Die Einigung soll laut einer Erklärung des Europaparlaments den gesamten "Lebenszyklus" von Batterien betreffen - also von der Herstellung bis zu ihrer Entsorgung. Alle Schritte sollen dabei umweltfreundlicher werden.
Konkret betroffen sind unter anderem die Akkus von Handys, die in einer Frist von dreieinhalb Jahren in allen Geräten leicht austauschbar sein müssen. Auch die Akkus und Batterien von Computern sowie von E-Bikes und -Autos sollen umweltfreundlicher werden.
Die zwischen Parlament und Mitgliedstaaten ausgehandelte neue Batterieverordnung soll eine Richtlinie aus dem Jahr 2006 ersetzen.
