Umweltaktivisten häufen in Lissabon 650.000 Zigarettenstummel auf
Umweltaktivisten haben auf einem Platz in Portugals Hauptstadt Lissabon rund 650.000 Zigarettenstummel aufgehäuft. "Wir haben alle Menschen in Portugal gebeten, an diesem Gemeinschaftsprojekt teilzunehmen, um auf die Plastikverschmutzung aufmerksam zu machen", sagte der Initiator der Aktion, der 34-jährige Deutsche Andreas Noe, am Sonntag der Nachrichtenagentur AFP. Denn vielen Menschen sei nicht bewusst, dass in Zigarettenstummeln Plastik versteckt sei.
Eine einzige kleine Zigarettenkippe sei ein gutes Beispiel dafür, "wie jeder anfangen kann, etwas zu tun" gegen die Umweltverschmutzung und die Klimakrise allgemein, sagte Noe. Die Teilnehmer der Aktion hatten innerhalb einer Woche genug Zigarettenstummel gesammelt, um etwa 40 Plastikbierfässer damit zu füllen. Anschließend schütteten sie die Kippen auf eine Plastikfolie.
"Wir wollen dieses Problem beenden, indem wir die Menschen dazu ermutigen, ihre Zigarettenstummel in den Mülleimer oder in Taschenaschenbecher zu werfen - egal wohin, nur nicht auf den Boden", sagte Noes Mitstreiter David Figueira.
Noe war vor sechs Jahren nach Portugal gezogen und hat sich inzwischen ganz dem Umweltschutz verschrieben. Vor zwei Jahren hatte er in zwei Monaten bereits rund eine Million Zigarettenstummel gesammelt.
