Waldbrand im Harz unter Kontrolle - Feuer brennt aber unterirdisch
Das Feuer im Nationalpark Harz ist weitgehend unter Kontrolle - breitet sich aber unterirdisch aus. Die Auswertung von Wärmebildern des Erkundungshubschraubers zeigten, dass sich der Brand um weitere zehn Hektar auf 160 Hektar ausgebreitet habe - und zwar unter der Erde, teilte das Landratsamt des Landkreises Harz am Dienstag in Halberstadt mit. Die Löscharbeiten aus der Luft liefen deshalb unvermindert weiter, zudem sollten mehr Bodentrupps eingesetzt werden.
Am Dienstag waren erneut mehr als 180 Feuerwehrleute im Einsatz, darunter in dem unzugänglichen Gelände auch Löschtrupps am Boden. Im Zentrum der Brandbekämpfung stand ein Moorgebiet, auf welches das Feuer übergegriffen hatte. Nach wie vor waren auch sieben Löschhubschrauber sowie zwei Löschflugzeuge aus Italien im Dauereinsatz. Der Concordiasee in Sachsen-Anhalt, aus dem die Flugzeuge das Löschwasser holen, war weiterhin für die Öffentlichkeit gesperrt.
Ein Feuerwehrmann wurde am Montag schwer verletzt, als es bei den Löscharbeiten an einem Gerät zu einer Verpuffung kam. Ein Rettungshubschrauber brachte ihn vom Brockenplateau in eine Spezialklinik für Brandverletzte.
Der Waldbrand war am Samstag in einen schwer zugänglichen Gebiet unterhalb des Brockens ausgebrochen. Nach wie vor galt der Katastrophenfall im sachsen-anhaltischen Landkreis Harz. Der Ort Schierke war gesperrt.
