Der Sommer 2022 war laut Copernicus der heißeste überhaupt
So heiß wie in diesem Sommer war es in Europa bisher noch nie: In den Monaten Juni bis August haben die Durchschnittstemperaturen den bisherigen Rekord aus dem Jahr 2021 nochmals um 0,4 Prozent überschritten, wie das europäische Erdbeobachtungsprogramm Copernicus am Donnerstag mitteilte.
Die Durchschnittstemperatur in den drei Monaten war laut Copernicus 1,34 Grad höher als in den Jahren 1991 bis 2020. Der Monat August war demnach mit Abstand der heißeste überhaupt: Die Durchschnittstemperatur lag 1,72 Grad höher als in den Jahren 1991 bis 2020.
"Eine Reihe heftiger Hitzewellen in ganz Europa und eine außergewöhnliche Trockenheit haben zu einem Extremsommer mit Höchstwerten bei Temperaturen, Trockenheit und Bränden geführt", betonte die Copernicus-Expertin Freja Vamborg. Sie wies nochmals ausdrücklich darauf hin, dass es bereits der zweite Rekordsommer in Folge gewesen sei.
