Dritter gestrandeter Wal in der Bretagne findet ins Meer zurück
Nach zwei gestrandeten und verendeten Finnwalen in der Bretagne hat ein dritter an Land geratener Wal wieder ins Meer zurückgefunden. "Er hat alle seine Kraft eingesetzt, und mit unserer Hilfe hat er es geschafft", schrieb die Organisation Sea Shepherd am Dienstag auf Twitter. Die Tierschützer hatten den zwölf Meter langen Meeressäuger zuvor mit nassen Tüchern bedeckt und einen Kanal zum Meer ausgebaggert.
Seit Anfang September waren insgesamt drei Finnwale im Département Finistère gestrandet. Die Gründe dafür sind unklar. Die beiden ersten Tiere waren nach Angaben der Tierschützer stark abgemagert. Mögliche Gründe für das Stranden von Walen sind unter anderem die Aufnahme von Plastik oder Giftmüll oder Zusammenstöße mit Booten.
Der zuletzt gestrandete Wal hatte viele Schaulustige angezogen. Die Behörden hatten das Gebiet abgesperrt, um das Tier zu schützen. Sie hatten zunächst vergeblich versucht, den Wal ins Meer zurückzuziehen.
