Prozess um Brüsseler Anschläge von 2016 beginnt
In Brüssel beginnt am Mittwoch der Prozess um die islamistischen Anschläge von 2016 in der belgischen Hauptstadt (9.00 Uhr). Am ersten Prozesstag geht es um die Bildung der aus Bürgern bestehenden Jury. In Belgien werden terroristische Straftaten von zwölf Bürgern beurteilt, die nach dem Zufallsprinzip ausgewählt werden und drei Berufsrichtern zur Seite stehen. Es ist der größte Prozess vor einem Schwurgericht, der jemals in Belgien stattfand.
Die Verhandlung soll am 5. Dezember eröffnet werden. Der unter hohen Sicherheitsvorkehrungen stattfindende Prozess ist bis Juni kommenden Jahres angesetzt. Bei den Selbstmordattentaten in Brüssel am 22. März 2016 hatten sich mehrere Täter am Flughafen und in einer U-Bahn-Station in die Luft gesprengt. 32 Menschen starben, 340 weitere wurden verletzt.
