Dissidentin Yoani Sánchez beklagt "repressive Wut" der kubanischen Regierung
Die kubanische Dissidentin Yoani Sánchez hat eine verstärkte Unterdrückung der Opposition in dem Inselstaat beklagt. Die Regierung gehe seit den Massenprotesten im vergangenen Jahr mit einer "repressiven Wut" gegen Andersdenkende vor, sagte die Journalistin am Samstag auf der Internationalen Buchmesse im mexikanischen Guadalajara. Es gebe mehr als tausend politische Gefangene in Kuba.
Die Gründer der Website "14ymedio.com" warnte vor den Folgen der Strafrechtsreform, die am Donnerstag in Kraft trat. "Hauptopfer" der Gesetzesverschärfungen seien der unabhängige Journalismus und "der freie Fluss von Nachrichten", sagte Sánchez.
Das neue Strafgesetzbuch stuft eine Reihe von Aktivitäten, die der Staat als subversiv oder schädlich für die Gesellschaft betrachtet, als Verbrechen ein. Nach Einschätzung von Menschenrechtsorganisationen sollen dadurch abweichende Meinungen unterdrückt werden. Der Protest gegen die Regierung solle unter Straftatbeständen wie der Erregung öffentlichen Ärgernisses "kriminalisiert" werden, sagte Sánchez.
Im Juli 2021 hatten in dutzenden kubanischen Städten tausende Menschen protestiert. Damit reagierten sie auf Kubas schwerste Wirtschaftskrise seit fast 30 Jahren. Die Proteste wurden damals teils gewaltsam niedergeschlagen. Ein Mensch wurde getötet. Dutzende Demonstranten wurden verletzt und hunderte Menschen festgenommen.
