Pistorius informiert sich bei Einsatzführungskommando über Auslandseinsätze
Bundesverteidigungsminister Boris Pistorius (SPD) besucht am Montag das Einsatzführungskommando der Bundeswehr, um sich über die Auslandseinsätze der Truppe zu informieren (11.30 Uhr). Während des Besuchs am Sitz des Kommandos in Schwielowsee bei Potsdam will der Minister auch per Videoverbindung mit Soldatinnen und Soldaten im Auslandseinsatz sprechen. In der Gedenkstätte Wald der Erinnerung will er der im Auslandseinsatz getöteten Bundeswehrangehörigen gedenken. Gegen 15.00 Uhr äußert sich Pistorius vor der Presse.
Der derzeit größte Auslandseinsatz der Bundeswehr befindet sich im westafrikanischen Krisenstaat Mali. Die Bundesregierung will allerdings die Beteiligung an dem UN-Einsatz dort bis Mai 2024 beenden. Dafür will die Bundeswehr ihre Präsenz im Nachbarland Niger erhöhen. Soldatinnen und Soldaten der Bundeswehr beteiligen sich derzeit zudem an Einsätzen im Irak und in Jordanien sowie - mit sehr geringer Personalstärke - im Südsudan und der Westsahara.
