Tausende Israelis protestieren erneut gegen Regierung Netanjahu
In Tel Aviv sind am Samstag erneut tausende Menschen gegen die Regierung von Ministerpräsident Benjamin Netanjahu und dessen Pläne zum Umbau der Justiz auf die Straße gegangen. Viele Demonstranten schwenkten israelische Flaggen und trugen Plakate mit Aufschriften wie "Schützt die israelische Demokratie vor Netanjahu" oder "Bedrohung für den Weltfrieden". Laut Medienberichten fanden Proteste in 20 Städten statt.
Seit der Bildung der neuen Regierung Ende Dezember gab es bereits zahlreiche Demonstrationen gegen Netanjahu, der nach anderthalb Jahren in der Opposition wieder die Regierungsgeschäfte in Israel übernommen hatte. Er verbündete sich dafür mit ultrarechten und ultraorthodoxen Parteien und führt die am weitesten rechts stehende Regierung der israelischen Geschichte an.
Die Koalition plant nicht nur den Ausbau israelischer Siedlungen im besetzten Westjordanland, die völkerrechtlich als illegal gelten, sondern auch eine umstrittene Justizreform. Demnach könnte das Parlament Entscheidungen des Obersten Gerichts mit einfacher Mehrheit widerrufen. Netanjahu steht derzeit wegen Korruptionsvorwürfen vor Gericht, die er weiter bestreitet.
