Macron will gemeinsam mit von der Leyen nach China reisen
Frankreichs Präsident Emmanuel Macron hat EU-Kommissionspräsidentin Ursula von der Leyen vorgeschlagen, ihn bei seiner für April geplanten Reise nach China zu begleiten. Er habe auch mit Bundeskanzler Olaf Scholz (SPD) darüber gesprochen, dass mit Blick auf China eine "europäische Stimme" nötig sei, sagte Macron am Freitag nach Abschluss des EU-Gipfels in Brüssel.
"Wir sind uns einig, dass wir China auf unsere Seite ziehen wollen, um Druck zu machen, damit Russland keine chemischen Waffen oder Atomwaffen einsetzt", sagte der französische Präsident zum russischen Angriffskrieg gegen die Ukraine. Macron will vom 4. bis 8. April nach China reisen.
Scholz sagte in Brüssel, China habe zudem ausdrücklich zugesichert, keine Waffen an Moskau zu liefern. Er rief den chinesischen Staatschef Xi Jinping auf, nicht nur mit dem russischen Präsidenten Wladimir Putin zu sprechen, sondern auch mit dem ukrainischen Staatschef Wolodymyr Selenskyj. Xi hatte Putin in dieser Woche in Moskau besucht.
Scholz war bereits Anfang November nach Peking gereist. Zuvor hatte Macron für eine gemeinsame Reise geworben. Der Kanzler lehnte jedoch ab und verwies darauf, dass es sich um seinen Antrittsbesuch handele.
Macron erinnerte nun daran, dass er 2019 sowohl die damalige Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) als auch EU-Kommissionspräsident Jean-Claude Juncker zu einem Vierer-Gipfel mit dem chinesischen Präsidenten Xi Jinping in Paris empfangen hatte.
Frankreich hatte einen im Februar von China vorgestellten sogenannten Friedensplan für die Ukraine grundsätzlich begrüßt und Peking zugleich aufgefordert, keinesfalls Waffen an Russland zu liefern.
