Zahl der Bezieher von Elterngeld leicht gesunken
Die Zahl der Bezieher von Elterngeld in Deutschland ist leicht gesunken. 2022 bezogen rund 1,8 Millionen Menschen die Unterstützung, wie das Statistische Bundesamt am Mittwoch in Wiesbaden mitteilte. Das waren 1,2 Prozent weniger als 2021. Von den rund 1,8 Millionen Nutzern waren 26,1 Prozent Männer.
Der Trend setzte sich damit fort. Seit Jahren steigt der Prozentsatz an Männern bei der Nutzung an. 2015 hatte der Wert noch bei 20,9 Prozent gelegen. Mit einem Väteranteil von 30,2 Prozent lag Sachsen 2022 erneut auf dem ersten Platz, gefolgt von Thüringen (28,4 Prozent) sowie Bayern und Baden-Württemberg (jeweils 28,3 Prozent). Auf dem letzten Platz landete erneut das Saarland mit 20,8 Prozent.
38,7 Prozent der berechtigten Mütter und 16,1 Prozent der berechtigten Väter planten, das Elterngeld Plus zu beziehen. Bei dieser Leistung fallen die monatlichen Zahlungen in der Regel niedriger aus, dafür wird diese Variante aber bis zu 36 Monate lang gewährt. Seit Einführung dieser Variante wird es immer stärker nachgefragt. 2016 hatten 20,1 Prozent der Mütter und 8,2 Prozent der Väter diese Option gewählt. 2022 planten 32,8 Prozent der Eltern das Elterngeld Plus zumindest anteilig ein.
Noch immer beziehen Frauen deutlich länger das Elterngeld als Männer. Bei Frauen waren es im Schnitt 14,6 Monate - ein unveränderter Wert im Vergleich zum Vorjahr. Bei Männern waren es 3,6 Monate im Schnitt. Im Vergleich zum Vorjahr bedeutete das ein leichtes Minus.
