Ukrainische Athleten prüfen im Fall Russland eine Klage gegen die Entscheidung des IOC. "Wir werden uns diese Möglichkeit anschauen", sagte Wladislaw Heraskewitsch (24) in einer Pressekonferenz am Mittwoch. Noch sei es aber zu früh, eine Entscheidung zu kommunizieren, meinte der Skeletoni, der seit Kriegsbeginn so etwas wie der inoffizielle Athletensprecher der Ukraine geworden ist. Grundsätzlich "arbeiten wir daran, die Welt besser zu machen", sagte Heraskewitsch.
Laut Sportrechtsexperte Mark Orth hätte eine Klage gegen die durch das IOC eingeleitete Rückkehr russischer und belarussischer Athletinnen und Athleten in den Weltsport gute Chancen auf Erfolg. "Die Entscheidung ist anfechtbar", sagte Orth. Unter anderem auch deshalb, weil die aufgestellten Bedingungen von unabhängigen Stellen "kaum zu überprüfen" sind, sagte er: "Das ist nicht praktikabel." So könne nur Russland oder Belarus die Frage beantworten, ob ein Athlet beim Militär oder bei nationalen Sicherheitsbehörde unter Vertrag stehe.
