Lukaschenko zur Stationierung "strategischer" russischer Atomwaffen in Belarus bereit
Der belarussische Machthaber Alexander Lukaschenko hat sich zur Stationierung "strategischer" russischer Atomwaffen auf dem Gebiet von Belarus bereit erklärt. "Wenn nötig, werden Putin und ich entscheiden, ob wir hier strategische Waffen stationieren", sagte Lukaschenko am Freitag in einer im Fernsehen übertragenen Rede an die Nation. "Wir werden vor nichts zurückschrecken, um unsere Länder, unsere Staaten und unser Volk zu verteidigen", fügte er hinzu.
Die "strategischen" Atomwaffen haben eine größere Reichweite und Wirkungskraft als die "taktischen" Atomwaffen. Der russische Präsident Wladimir Putin hatte am vergangenen Wochenende erklärt, dass Russland "taktische" Atomwaffen in Belarus stationieren werde.
Belarus ist nicht direkt am Konflikt in der Ukraine beteiligt, hat aber Russland nach Angaben aus Kiew erlaubt, belarussisches Staatsgebiet als Ausgangspunkt für die Ukraine-Offensive im vergangenen Jahr zu nutzen. Seitdem haben beide Länder gemeinsame Militärübungen in Belarus abgehalten und ihre militärische Zusammenarbeit verstärkt
