Erdogan für dritte Amtszeit vereidigt
Nach seiner Wiederwahl ist der türkische Präsident Recep Tayyip Erdogan für eine weitere fünfjährige Amtszeit vereidigt worden. Erdogan schwor am Samstag vor den 600 Parlamentsabgeordneten in Ankara, "seine Pflicht unparteiisch zu erfüllen". Der 69-Jährige hatte sich am vergangenen Sonntag in der Stichwahl mit 52 Prozent der Stimmen gegen den sozialdemokratischen Oppositionskandidaten Kemal Kilicdaroglu durchgesetzt.
"Ich schwöre, als Präsident all meine Kraft einzusetzen, um die Existenz und Unabhängigkeit des Staates zu schützen", sagte der Präsident in der live vom türkischen Fernsehen übertragenen Zeremonie. Im Anschluss war eine Feierlichkeit im Präsidentenpalast geplant, an der mehrere Staatsoberhäupter aus aller Welt teilnehmen sollten.
Der islamisch-konservative Erdogan lenkt seit 20 Jahren die Geschicke des Landes: seit 2003 als Ministerpräsident, ab 2014 als Präsident. Erdogan hat über die Jahre hinweg zunehmend autoritär regiert, Kritiker werfen ihm die Unterdrückung der Opposition vor.
