Weitere sechs Tote bei Ausschreitungen im Senegal
Bei den gewaltsamen Zusammenstößen zwischen der Polizei und Oppositionsanhängern im Senegal sind weitere sechs Menschen getötet worden. Wie der Sprecher des senegalesischen Innenministeriums, Maham Ka, am Samstag mitteilte, gab es in der Hauptstadt Dakar am Vortag bei den Unruhen vier Tote und in der südlich gelegenen Stadt Ziguinchor zwei Tote.
Die Gesamtzahl der Toten seit Ausbruch der Unruhen am Donnerstag stieg damit auf 15. Ausgelöst worden waren die Proteste und Ausschreitungen durch das Hafturteil gegen den Oppositionsführer Ousmane Sonko. Ein Gericht hatte ihn wegen "Verführung der Jugend" zu zwei Jahren Haft verurteilt, weil er eine junge Frau zu unzüchtigem Verhalten angestiftet haben soll. Das Urteil stellt Sonkos Kandidatur für das Präsidentenamt bei der Wahl im kommenden Jahr in Frage.
Nach dem Urteil gegen Sonko lieferten sich Anhänger des Politikers gewalttätige Konfrontationen mit der Polizei. Auch kam es zu Plünderungen von Banken, Geschäften und Tankstellen. Am Samstag gaben die Behörden bis zum Nachmittag keine neuen Ausschreitungen bekannt. Einheiten der Armee blieben aber in Dakar postiert, um gegebenenfalls die Polizei zu unterstützen.
