Kompromiss in Portugal: Neuer Parlamentspräsident gewählt
Nach dem Scheitern der Wahl eines Parlamentspräsidenten haben sich Parteivertreter in Portugal am Mittwoch auf einen Kompromiss geeinigt. Demnach hat bis September 2026 ein Kandidat des Mitte-Rechts-Bündnisses Demokratische Allianz (AD) von Ministerpräsident Luís Montenegro das Amt inne, anschließend übernimmt ein Kandidat der bisher regierenden Sozialisten (PS). AD-Vertreter José Pedro Aguiar-Branco wurde daraufhin mit komfortabler Mehrheit gewählt. "Ich werde alle Abgeordneten vertreten", sagte er.
Das Bündnis AD hatte am Dienstag nicht die nötigen 116 Stimmen erhalten, die für die Wahl von Aguiar-Branco zum Parlamentspräsidenten nötig gewesen wären. Die AD hatte die Parlamentswahl in Portugal am 10. März mit 28,8 Prozent gewonnen und war mit dünnem Vorsprung vor den seit 2015 regierenden Sozialisten gelandet. Die nötige Mehrheit von 116 Sitzen im 230 Sitze umfassenden Parlament verfehlte das Mitte-Rechts-Bündnis jedoch deutlich.
Ministerpräsident Montenegro könnte mit der Unterstützung der rechtspopulistischen Partei Chega eine Mehrheit erlangen, schloss dies jedoch aus und erklärte, er werde eine Minderheitsregierung bilden. Deren Zusammensetzung wird Montenegro am Donnerstag bekannt geben.
Der vorangegangene Versuch, Aguilar-Branco zu wählen, scheiterte offenbar, weil die Abgeordneten der Chega eine Vereinbarung, für den AD-Kandidaten zu stimmen, nicht eingehalten hatten. Chega-Chef André Ventura schob die mangelnde Unterstützung seiner Partei auf öffentliche Äußerungen von AD-Abgeordneten, die seiner Meinung nach gegen die Vereinbarung verstießen.
