620.000 Dollar Einkommen: Joe und Jill Biden veröffentlichen Steuererklärung
US-Präsident Joe Biden und seine Frau Jill haben im vergangenen Jahr 619.976 Dollar (rund 585.000 Euro) verdient. Der größte Teil setzt sich aus dem 400.000-Dollar-Gehalt von Joe Biden sowie Jill Bidens Einkommen in Höhe von 85.985 Dollar für ihre Lehrtätigkeit an einem College zusammen, wie aus der am Montag für 2023 veröffentlichten Steuererklärung hervorgeht.
Die Bidens gaben an, 146.629 Dollar an Bundessteuern zu zahlen, was einem Steuersatz von 23,7 Prozent entspricht. Joe Biden gab außerdem an, 30.908 Dollar an Einkommenssteuern im Bundesstaat Delaware zu zahlen. Jill Biden zahlte den Angaben zufolge 3549 Dollar an Einkommenssteuern in Virginia. Das Paar gab zudem Wohltätigkeitsspenden in Höhe von 20.477 Dollar an. In den vergangenen beiden Jahren hatten die Bidens mit 579.514 Dollar im Jahr 2022 und 610.702 im Jahr 2021 weniger verdient.
Mit der Veröffentlichung ihrer Steuererklärung knüpfen die Bidens an eine jahrzehntealte Tradition der US-Präsidenten an, die ihr Vorgänger Donald Trump unterbrochen hatte.
Auch Vizepräsidentin Kamala Harris und ihr Ehemann Doug Emhoff veröffentlichten ihre Steuererklärung. Darin wird ein Einkommen von 450.299 Dollar angegeben. Beide zahlten Bundessteuern in Höhe von 88.570 Dollar sowie 15.167 Dollar Einkommensteuern in Kalifornien und 11.599 Dollar im District of Colombia. Ihre Wohltätigkeitsspenden beliefen sich demnach auf 23.026 Dollar.
