Klingbeil zu Baerbocks Reise nach Israel: Jetzt ist Stunde der Diplomatie
SPD-Chef Lars Klingbeil hat mit Blick auf die Israel-Reise von Bundesaußenministerin Annalena Baerbock (Grüne) betont, dass "jetzt eine Stunde der Diplomatie" sei. Die Lage in Nahost sei nach dem ersten direkten Angriff des Irans auf Israel "dramatisch", sagte Klingbeil am Mittwoch im ZDF-"Morgenmagazin". Es gehe jetzt darum, alle Seiten "klar zu ermahnen", dass es "nicht zu einer Eskalation, zu einem Flächenbrand in der Region" kommen dürfe.
Dabei sei es richtig, "auch der israelischen Seite zu signalisieren: 'Bitte keine weitere Eskalation'", fügte Klingbeil hinzu. In diesem Sinne führe die Bundesregierung ihre Gespräche.
Klingbeil forderte zudem eine Verschärfung der Sanktionen gegen Teheran, worüber im Laufe des Tages auch beim EU-Gipfel in Brüssel gesprochen werden soll. Vor allem die iranischen Revolutionsgarden müssten mit auf die Sanktionsliste. Es gehe aber nicht darum "alle Drähte zu kappen", betonte der SPD-Chef. In diesem Sinne habe Baerbock auch bereits mit ihrem iranischem Kollegen gesprochen.
Baerbock war am Dienstag als erste westliche Spitzenpolitikerin seit dem iranischen Großangriff nach Israel gereist. Nach Angaben des Auswärtigen Amts standen für Mittwoch Gespräche mit Regierungschef Benjamin Netanjahu, Außenminister Israel Katz sowie dem Oppositionsführer und Mitglied des Kriegskabinetts, Benny Gantz, auf dem Programm.
