Umfrage: Europa-Optimismus der Deutschen gedämpft
Knapp zwei Monate vor den Europawahlen hält sich die Zuversicht der Deutschen hinsichtlich der Entwicklung der Europäischen Union in Grenzen. In einer am Mittwoch veröffentlichten Umfrage des Europaparlaments gaben 60 Prozent der Bundesbürger an, sie seien in dieser Hinsicht "ziemlich optimistisch" oder "sehr optimistisch". Das entspricht einem leichten Plus von zwei Prozentpunkten im Vergleich zum vergangenen Herbst, vor gut drei Jahren hatten sich allerdings noch 72 Prozent optimistisch gezeigt.
Deutschland liegt im Schnitt der EU-Länder: Insgesamt äußerten sich in der aktuellen Eurobarometer-Umfrage 61 Prozent der Europäerinnen und Europäer optimistisch. Schlusslicht ist Frankreich, dort sind nur 42 Prozent mit Blick auf die Entwicklung der EU zuversichtlich, mehr als die Hälfte der Befragten sind pessimistisch.
Das Bild der Deutschen vom Europaparlament hat sich kurz vor den Wahlen hingegen verbessert. 40 Prozent der Befragten gaben in der aktuellen Umfrage an, dass sie das Parlament grundsätzlich positiv sehen, im vergangenen Herbst waren es noch 34 Prozent. Für die Wahlen interessieren sich den Ergebnissen zufolge 60 Prozent der Deutschen.
Im Europaparlament wird bei den Wahlen Anfang Juni ein Rechtsruck befürchtet. Nach Prognosen der Plattform Europe Elects, die Meinungsumfragen aus den 27 EU-Ländern hochrechnet, könnte die AfD-Fraktion "Identität und Demokratie" (ID) viertstärkste Kraft hinter Konservativen, Sozialdemokraten und Liberalen werden.
Die Europawahl findet in Deutschland am 9. Juni statt. Für die jetzige, letzte Eurobarometer-Umfrage vor der Wahl wurden gut 26.400 EU-Bürgerinnen und EU-Bürger befragt, darunter rund 1500 Menschen in Deutschland.
