Ermittlungen gegen Ehefrau: Spaniens Regierungschef Sánchez erwägt Rücktritt
Angesichts von Korruptionsvorwürfen gegen seine Ehefrau denkt Spaniens Regierungschef Pedro Sánchez über einen Rücktritt nach. "Ich muss innehalten und nachdenken", schrieb der sozialdemokratische Ministerpräsident am Mittwochabend im Onlinedienst X. Dabei wolle er entscheiden, "ob ich weiter die Regierung führe oder ob ich diese Ehre aufgeben soll".
Er wolle seine Entscheidung am Montag verkünden, erklärte der Regierungschef. Bis dahin werde er seine Termine suspendieren.
Sánchez' Ehefrau Begoña Gómez wird "Einflussnahme und Korruption im Geschäftsleben" im Zusammenhang mit Corona-Hilfsgeldern vorgeworfen, wie ein Madrider Gericht zuvor mitgeteilt hatte. Die Ermittlungen gegen Gómez gehen demnach auf eine Anzeige der Antikorruptionsorganisation Manos Limpias (Saubere Hände) zurück. Die Organisation soll rechtsextremen Kreisen nahestehen.
