US-Ultimatum: ByteDance hat "keine Pläne" zu Tiktok-Verkauf
Der chinesische Mutterkonzern von Tiktok hat eigenen Angaben zufolge trotz eines US-Ultimatums keine Absicht, die Plattform zu verkaufen. "Ausländische Medienberichte darüber, dass Bytedance den Verkauf von Tiktok prüft, sind unwahr", erklärte Bytedance am Donnerstagabend auf der konzerneigenen Plattform Toutiao. "Bytedance hat keine Pläne, Tiktok zu verkaufen." Zuvor hatte die Nachrichtenseite "The Information" gemeldet, dass der chinesische Tech-Gigant mögliche Szenarien für einen Verkauf von Tiktok prüfe.
Der US-Kongress hatte in den vergangenen Tagen ein Gesetz verabschiedet, das ein Ultimatum vorsieht: Entweder Tiktok löst sich binnen eines Jahres von der chinesischen Mutter Bytedance oder es wird in den USA aus den App-Stores von Apple und Google verbannt.
Die USA werfen Bytedance seit Jahren vor, im Dienste der chinesischen Führung Tiktok dafür zu missbrauchen, die Nutzer auszuspionieren. Auch in Deutschland fordern Politiker ein schärferes Vorgehen gegen die App. Tiktok weist die Vorwürfe stets zurück. Das Unternehmen bestreitet jegliche Verbindungen zur chinesischen Regierung und versichert, es habe sich so umstrukturiert, dass die Nutzerdaten in den USA blieben.
Die Plattform ist extrem beliebt und hat in den USA rund 170 Millionen Nutzer. Weltweit sind es mehr als eine Milliarde Menschen, die die App nutzen.
