Nach der Teilmobilmachung in Russland für den Ukraine-Krieg hat sich die Zahl der täglich ins Nachbarland Georgien einreisenden Russen verdoppelt. "Vor vier oder fünf Tagen kamen täglich 5000 bis 6000 Russen in Georgien an", sagte der georgische Innenminister Wachtang Gomelauri am Dienstag in Tiflis. Mittlerweile sei diese Zahl auf "10.000 pro Tag" gewachsen.
Am Mittwoch vergangener Woche hatte Russlands Präsident Wladimir Putin die Teilmobilmachung von hunderttausenden Reservisten bekannt gegeben und damit eine Ausreisewelle aus Russland ausgelöst. Die meisten direkten Flüge in Länder ohne Visumsanforderungen für Russen waren schnell ausverkauft, die Ticket-Preise stiegen enorm an.
Nach Angaben des örtlichen Innenministeriums bildete sich in der an Georgien grenzenden russischen Region bis Dienstag ein Rückstau von mehr als 5500 Autos, deren Insassen in das Nachbarland ausreisen wollen. In den ersten vier Monaten des Ukraine-Kriegs waren bereits fast 50.000 Russen nach Georgien geflohen, wo sie ein Jahr lang ohne Visum bleiben dürfen.
Die massenweise Ankunft von Russen auf der Flucht vor einer Einberufung in die Armee löst in Georgien zwiespältige Gefühle aus. Schließlich sind die Erinnerungen an Russlands Einmarsch in Georgien im Jahr 2008 noch lebendig. Seit dem fünftägigen Krieg sind in zwei abtrünnigen Regionen Georgiens russische Soldaten stationiert.
