Esken: Gaspreise sollen Vorkriegsniveau erreichen
Die Bundesregierung strebt nach den Worten von SPD-Chefin Saskia Esken an, die Gaspreise über die Gaspreisbremse auf das Vorkriegsniveau zu drücken. Zu dem am Donnerstag vorgestellten "Abwehrschirm" der Bundesregierung sagte Esken am Freitag in der Sendung "Frühstart" von RTL/ntv: "Da kommt schon was zusammen und ich hoffe, dass wir die Preise auf ein Niveau senken können, das zumindest vor dem Krieg liegt."
Gefragt nach der genauen Ausgestaltung der Gaspreisbremse und der Ermittlung eines günstigeren Grundbedarfs sagte Esken: "Es ist klar, dass es um die realen Verbräuche geht. Dass also eine Familie mit vier Kindern natürlich einen höheren Verbrauch hat als eine Einzelperson." Bei der Festlegung eines Grundkontingents sei es "gut und richtig, auf die bisherigen Verbräuche zu schauen und dann davon einen Anteil zu nehmen".
Zu der Kritik, dass aufgrund der Gaspreisbremse die Menschen nicht genügend zum Sparen angereizt würden, sagte Esken: "Wenn wir sagen, dass nur ein Anteil des bisherigen Verbrauchs subventioniert wird – sagen wir mal ein Anteil von 80 Prozent – und was darüber liegt, beim normalen Preis bleibt, dann steckt da noch ein ziemlich starker Anreiz zum Sparen drin."
Am Donnerstag hatte die Bundesregierung einen "Abwehrschirm" im Umfang von 200 Milliarden Euro vorgestellt, um Bürgerinnen und Bürger sowie Unternehmen in der Energiekrise vor untragbaren Kosten zu schützen. Geplant ist insbesondere eine Gaspreisbremse, in deren Rahmen ein "Basisverbrauch" an Erdgas bis Ende des Winters 2023/24 staatlich subventioniert werden soll. Details zu den Plänen sind noch offen.
