Bulgarien wählt zum vierten Mal in 18 Monaten ein neues Parlament
In Bulgarien hat am Sonntagmorgen die vierte Parlamentswahl binnen 18 Monaten begonnen. Die Wahllokale sollen um 20.00 Uhr (Ortszeit, 19.00 Uhr MESZ) schließen, für diesen Zeitpunkt werden die Nachwahlbefragungen erwartet.
Im Juni war die Regierung des liberalen Ministerpräsidenten Kiril Petkow nach nur sieben Monaten im Amt durch ein Misstrauensvotum gestürzt worden. Petkows neu gegründete Partei "Wir setzen den Wandel fort" (PP) lag in den Umfragen bei rund 16 Prozent, die konservative Partei Gerb seines Vorgängers Bojko Borissow bei rund 25 Prozent.
Der Wahlkampf im ärmsten EU-Mitgliedstaat wurde vom Ukraine-Krieg und den unsicheren Gas-Lieferungen dominiert. Bulgarien ist historisch und kulturell eng mit Moskau verbunden. Der Einmarsch in die Ukraine hat in dem Land mit seinen 6,5 Millionen Einwohnern tiefe Spaltungen verursacht.
Während Borissow versucht, die Beziehungen sowohl zur EU als auch zu Russland und der Türkei nicht zu gefährden, nahm Petkow im Wahlkampf eine klare pro-europäische Haltung ein.
