Lula gewinnt ersten Durchgang der Präsidentschaftswahl in Brasilien
Mit einem knappen Sieg hat der linke Spitzenkandidat Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva die erste Runde der Präsidentschaftswahl in Brasilien für sich entschieden. Wie das Oberste Wahlgericht (TSE) am Sonntagabend (Ortszeit) nach der Auszählung von rund 97 Prozent der Stimmen auf seiner Webseite bekanntgab, gewann Lula 47,97 Prozent, während Amtsinhaber Jair Bolsonaro 43,6 Prozent für sich verbuchen konnte. Damit treten die beiden Kandidaten am 30. Oktober in einer Stichwahl gegeneinander an.
Meinungsumfragen hatten Herausforderer Lula bereits im ersten Durchgang bei 50 Prozent der Stimmen und damit mit einem weitaus größeren Vorsprung vor Amtsinhaber Bolsonaro gesehen. Dieser lag den Umfragen zufolge mit 36 Prozent hinter Lula zurück.
Für den rechtsextremen Staatschef, der nun einer demütigenden Niederlage im ersten Wahlgang entging, könnten die vier Wochen bis zur Stichwahl eine Gelegenheit sein, seine Anhänger weiter zu mobilisieren.
Experten zufolge geht Bolsonaro gestärkt aus dem ersten Wahldurchgang hervor - auch aufgrund des Wahlsiegs zahlreicher rechter Kandidaten im Kongress und im Senat. Der "Bolsonarismo" habe diese erste Runde gewonnen, sagte Bruna Santos vom Brasilien-Institut des Wilson Center in Washington. "Wir werden eine zweite Runde in einem radikal polarisierten Umfeld erleben", sagte die Politikwissenschaftlerin.
