Olympiasiegerin Hennig läuft in Ruka auf das Podest
Skilanglauf-Olympiasiegerin Katharina Hennig hat einen Traumstart in den WM-Winter hingelegt und ist gleich im ersten Distanzrennen der Saison auf das Podest gestürmt. Auf ihrer Paradestrecke 10 km im klassischen Stil musste sich die 26-Jährige aus Oberwiesenthal am Samstag im finnischen Ruka als Dritte nur den Schwedinnen Ebba Andersson und Frida Karlsson geschlagen geben.
Am Polarkreis fing Hennig mit einer starken letzten Runde noch die Norwegerin Anne Kjersti Kalvaa ab und sicherte sich hauchdünn mit 0,2 Sekunden Vorsprung den Podestplatz. Andersson setzte sich bei ihrem zweiten Weltcupsieg mit 5,7 Sekunden Vorsprung auf Karlsson durch, Hennig lag 13,3 Sekunden zurück.
Für die Sächsin war es das vierte Podest ihrer Karriere - allesamt im Klassiker über 10 km. Zuletzt war sie im Vorjahr ebenfalls in Ruka Dritte geworden.
Zweitbeste Deutsche war Victoria Carl (Zella-Mehlis), die mit Hennig bei den Winterspielen im Februar in Peking sensationell Gold im Teamsprint geholt hatte, auf Platz 13. Sprinterin Coletta Rydzek (Oberstdorf) lief als 20. erstmal in einem Distanzrennen unter die besten 30.
