Füllkrug trotz WM-Trubel: "Versuche, demütig zu bleiben"
Umjubelter Torschütze und plötzlich im Fokus: Doch Fußball-Nationalspieler Niclas Füllkrug will sich von dem Trubel nach seinem wichtigen WM-Treffer gegen Spanien (1:1) nicht beeindrucken lassen. "Ich versuche einfach, demütig und bodenständig zu bleiben", sagte der 29-Jährige bei MagentaTV.
"Ich will weiter meine Arbeit machen, denn ich denke, dass sich das irgendwann auszahlt. Das scheint jetzt gerade bei mir der Zeitpunkt zu sein", erklärte der Stürmer, der in der vergangenen Saison für Werder Bremen noch in der 2. Bundesliga auf Torejagd gegangen war.
Er sei "auch nicht der Mann, der Fußball-Deutschland im Turnier hält, sondern wir sind die Mannschaft, die Fußball-Deutschland im Turnier hält. Darum geht es am Ende", betonte Füllkrug.
Die Ausgangslage vor dem entscheidenden Gruppenspiel gegen Costa Rica am Donnerstag (20.00 Uhr/ARD und MagentaTV) sei "nicht optimal, aber es ist möglich weiterzukommen". Das Team habe gegen Spanien "einen großen Schritt nach vorne gemacht", daran müsse man "anknüpfen".
