Kölner Sportler gründen Interessengemeinschaft
Gemeinsam für mehr Sichtbarkeit und Förderung: 20 Kölner Athletinnen und Athleten aus olympischen und paralympischen Sportarten haben sich zusammengeschlossen, um "sportliches Spitzenniveau zu sichern". Der "bunte und vielfältige Haufen" um Hockey-Nationalspieler Timur Oruz eifert damit den Teams aus Düsseldorf und Hamburg nach, die ebenfalls auf Unterstützung der Städte und Wirtschaftspartner bauen.
"Um dauerhaft sportliche Höchstleistungen bringen zu können, benötigen wir bestmögliche Rahmenbedingungen in allen Bereichen", sagte Oruz, Bronzemedaillengewinner 2016 in Rio und Vorsitzender im Verbund Kölner Athleten (VKA): "Wir wollen unseren Mitgliedern eine optimale Vorbereitung auf die sportlichen Spitzenevents ermöglichen. Dazu bedarf es weiterer Unterstützung sowie finanzieller Mittel."
